Measuring approximately 6″ x 6″ by 11″ in height, the Winter Solstice Lantern is a perfect size to enjoy for indoor home decor. It is a delightful choice to display as a dining table centrepiece. With each side a unique detailed design, the sides can be viewed and explored from any angle.

How it’s made:

We create the Winter Solstice Lantern in multiple steps. First, we create a digital word cloud of wintry words and phrases. We adjust the template to allow for a double colour print, ensuring the words line up correctly. We expose the silk screen with four unique panel designs, each with two print layers.

We cut and polish the glass to the appropriate size, then print the first layer in blue enamels. We add a blue mica powder for a wintry sparkle, then dry the enamels to secure the mica in the design. Once we have brushed off the excess sparkle, we print the second layer, ensuring the lettering aligns to the first print perfectly.

Once all four unique panel designs are printed, we fire the panels to sinter the enamel into the surface of the glass.  While the glass fires in the kiln, we anneal it to strengthen the glass for durability. You can be sure to enjoy your Winter Solstice Lantern for many years to come.
