From the solitude of the dark ocean, the Kraken reaches toward the water’s surface. The Kraken Standup is a delightfully dark conversational piece for your space.

Measuring approximately 5×6″, this fused glass decor is a perfect size to bring a mysterious pop of colour to your space. Whether you add to your office, or add to your reading room, this piece of art is a bit of whimsy for any space.

Display your smooth and seaworthy fused glass art in your choice of either a wooden display, clear acrylic easel, or on a hand selected piece of driftwood. Any of the display options will allow light to travel through the glass, for a mysterious and glowing display!

How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create The Kraken Standup using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish the swirled glass to the appropriate size. Then, we use our specially designed silk screen to print the detailed design onto the glass using glass enamels. Once the design is printed and verified for quality, we speed the drying process by baking the glass. We use a toaster oven! We check the design again once it has dried to ensure there are no defects to correct, then place the glass into the kiln. 

During the firing, the enamels are sintered into the glass, and the glass is annealed. Because of this, the strength and durability of the glass is increased, so you know it will last as long as you own the artwork. The colour in the swirls is the glass itself, and the enamels have been fused into the surface of the glass. In other words, you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off.
