The curling fern leaves in the Textured Fern Tray sing with joy and love for your potted plants. A perfect pair of glistening texture and vibrant colours will add warmth and whimsy to your space. While it is ideal to hold two potted plants, the fused glass tray is food safe and can be used as a charcuterie board or serving tray.
Measuring approximately 7×13″, this fused glass plate is a lovely way to keep fresh spring growth indoors all year long. Perfect for a table centrepiece, coffee table, or low shelf or cabinet. This unique fused glass tray will add a touch of elegance to your decor for this season.Â

How’s It Made?
Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Textured Fern Tray using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish a sheet of clear glass to the appropriate size. We use powder and glass frits to accent the texture in a ceramic casting plate. Once the colour and shading have been added, we top the design using clear glass frits and bring the level of glass to the appropriate thickness. Finally, we place the clear sheet glass carefully over the glass frits.
We kiln fire the glass to melt the powders and design elements into the sheet glass. When the glass cools, it retains the design from the ceramic texture plate. We clean any residue from the glass, then return the glass to the kiln to slump into the tray shape in a low temperature firing. This means the temperature is only high enough to soften the glass, enough for it to sag into a mold. When the glass cools, it retains the shape of the mold, while keeping all of the textured detail of the casting mold.
The colour in the Textured Fern Tray is the glass itself. This means you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firing, we anneal the glass. Because of this, the strength and durability of the glass is increased, so you know it will last for many years.
