How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, the Tanglelight Bowl is created with multiple elements. First, the string of lights are hand painted with enamels onto the black base glass. Then, coloured glass frits are added to the surface for the bright colours of the bulbs. Next, it is placed into the kiln and fired flat at a low temperature. This allows for the fun texture in the bulbs.  The colour is the glass itself, and the enamels are kiln-fired into the glass. Therefore, you won’t ever have to worry that the colour will peel or fade in the sun.  Finally, it is slumped into a ceramic mold and cooled into the bowl shape. During each firing, the glass is annealed. Because of this, the strength and durability of the bowl are increased, so you know it will easily withstand daily use.
