- Hand Crafted Art GlassÂ
- Quality Metal Lantern
- Hand Painted with Glass Frit accents
- Kiln-fired for strength and durability
- Dimensions are 6″x6″x12″
The design elements of the Sleepy Owl Lantern are hand crafted from sheet glass, glass powders, and glass frits. Next, the vines are hand painted using glass enamels, and then all elements are kiln-fired into the glass. In short, all of the colours are long lasting and durable. In other words, they won’t ever fade or wash away. The firing and annealing processes strengthen the glass. As such, this creates a more durable piece of glass than regular single pane window glass.
The glass is hand cut and installed into a quality metal lantern to ensure that your Sleepy Owl Lantern is safe and durable. Additionally, the lantern has a hinged door with a magnetic latch. Because of this, you can easily place a pillar candle or flickering LED light inside the lantern.
Measuring 6″x6″ at the base, and 12″ tall, this nicely sized lantern is a perfectly sized centrepiece for the tabletop or a subtle accent on the floor of a room needing a little seasonal decor. Additionally, the Sleepy Owl Lantern also looks great twinkling on the front step or porch.Â
Sleepy Owl Fun Facts:
1. OWLS CAN TURN THEIR HEADS ALMOST ALL THE WAY AROUNDÂ
Turning their heads 135 degrees in either direction. As such, it gives owls 270 degrees of total movement.
2. OWL FLIGHT IS SILENTÂ
They have special feathers that break turbulence into smaller currents, which reduces sound. Additionally, soft velvety down further muffles noise.
3. BURROWING OWLS TAKE OVER PRAIRIE DOG TOWNS—AND HUNT WITH POOP
One of the few owls that is active during the daytime, the Burrowing Owl nests in the ground. This means they move into tunnels excavated by other animals such as prairie dogs. Next, they’ll surround the entrances to their burrows with dung and sit at the burrow entrance all day long. They’re fishing; the poop is bait for dung beetles, which is one of the owls’ favourite types of prey.
Â
In conclusion, luckily for you, the Sleepy Owl Lantern won’t be doing any hunting on your watch. He’ll simply be ruffling his feathers and trying to wake up.
