Memories of berry picking in the July sun, with purple fingers, and as many berries hitting my mouth as into the bucket..! Even with small hands and hungry mouths, the buckets became filled, and pies and jams and syrups were the delicious result.

Measuring approximately 5×6″, this glass decor is a perfect size to bring a pop of colour to your space. Whether you add to your office, or brighten up your mantle, this piece of art is a very Prairie addition to any space.

How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Saskatoon Standup using multiple steps. First, we roll a slab of clay to the appropriate size. Next, we pressed live saskatoon cuttings into the clay, creating realistic and natural textures. We dry the clay slab, ensuring they remain perfectly flat without disturbing the impression. Once dry, we bisque fire the clay to be used as a casting mold for the glass.

We cut and polish the glass to the appropriate size. Next, we use coloured glass powders and frits to accent the details in the textured clay mold. Once the colours have been carefully applied to the berries and leaves, we carefully place the sheet glass overtop and place the casting mold into the kiln.

We kiln fire the glass to allow the frits and the sheet glass to fuse together. The colour is the glass itself, you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firing, we anneal the glass. Because of this, we increase the strength and durability of the glass, so you know it will last for as long as you own the Saskatoon Standup glass art.
