The freedom of being on the open water, rocking gently with the waves, is like no other. The Sailing Away Standup is a delightful way to remind you of when you last spent time with the seas. The texture in the artwork catches the sunlight, the same way the ocean waves twinkle with delight. 

Measuring approximately 5×6″, this glass decor is a perfect size to bring a wash of colour to your space. Whether you add to your office, or brighten up your cottage, this piece of art is a splashy addition to any space.

Display your touchable fused glass art in your choice of wooden display, clear acrylic easel, or hand selected driftwood. Any of the display options allow light to travel through the glass, for a sparkling and glowing display!

How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Sailing Away Standup using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish the clear glass to the appropriate size. Then, we prepare a ceramic casting mold using a spray to allow the glass to release from the mold. Next, we use coloured glass frits to accent the details in the ceramic. We carefully blend the colours to create a gradient effect, while ensuring there are no unwanted reactions between colours. Once the colours have been applied, we place the sheet glass overtop and place the casting mold into the kiln.

We kiln fire the glass to allow the frits and the sheet glass to fuse together. The colour is the glass itself, you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firing, the glass is annealed. Because of this, the strength and durability of the glass is increased, so you know it will last for as long as you own the glass art.

This design is the namesake of the collection, and is featured in the Sailing Away Lantern, Frameless Sailing Away Window Panel, and the Sailing Away Summerscape.
