How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Peacock Standup using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish the glass to the appropriate size. Then, we hand paint the body and beak of the bird in glass enamel. When the enamel has dried, we add the 14k gold lustre for the head feathers and eye detail. Last, we create the tail feather texture using green and blue glass frits.

We kiln fire the glass to allow the frits and the sheet glass to fuse together. The colour is the glass itself, and the enamel is sintered into the glass permanently. Because of this, you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firing, the glass is annealed. As such, the strength and durability of the glass is increased, so you know it will last for as long as you own the glass art.
