Details:
Proud as a peacock, your Peacock Lantern is a beautiful fusion of art and function to enhance the ambiance of your indoor or outdoor space. The hand-painted peacock motif is detailed with fused glass frits to create a striking colour with touchable texture. Matching panels on opposing sides of the lantern feature a peacock feather pattern, screen printed in green and blue and kiln-fired for permanence.
Measuring approximately 6″ x 6″ by 11″ in height, the Peacock Lantern is a perfect size to enjoy for indoor home decor. You can display the lantern as a tabletop centrepiece, paired perfectly with this LED candle. With each side a unique detailed design, the lantern can be viewed from any angle, and is sure to be a conversational piece. Similarly, you can easily display the lantern on the floor as an accent piece, or as outdoor decor on the patio or in the sunroom at the cottage.

How’s It Made?
We create this lantern using multiple steps. For the textured sides of the Peacock Lantern, we hand paint the body and beak of the peacock using enamels. Once it has dried, we paint the 14k gold lustre for the head feathers and eye. Finally, we arrange the green and blue glass frits for the tail feathers. Then, the glass is placed into the kiln and fired to fuse the frits and sheet glass together.
For the feather patterned sides of the Peacock Lantern, we create the design for the screen we want to use. We coat and dry the screens, then expose the emulsion using our designs and rinse out the unexposed emulsion. This creates the screen stencil we use to print with. Next, we cut the glass to the size required, ensuring it is cleaned before we print on the glass. Using fusible glass enamel as paint, we pull the enamel over the screen which allows the enamels to pass through the open designs on the screen and contact the glass. When the first colour has dried, we align and print the second colour.
Once we have examined each print for quality and have touched up any defects, we place the glass into the kiln. We fire the panels at a low temperature to ensure the enamels are sintered into the surface of the glass.
Because the colours are the glass itself, and the enamels are fused into the glass, they can never wash off or fade. During the firing process, we anneal the glass to strengthen it for durability. Because of this, you can be sure to enjoy your Peacock Lantern for many years to come.
