Display your delightfully tactile fused glass art in your choice of wooden block display, driftwood, or clear acrylic easel. Any of the display options allow light to travel through the glass, for a warmly glowing display!

How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Mushroom Standup using multiple steps. First, we roll a slab of clay to the appropriate size. Next, we press foliage into the clay, creating realistic and natural textures. We trace out the mushroom shape onto the surface of the clay, then carve the design to the 3-dimensional effect for the whimsical forest mushroom and the morel mushroom. We dry the clay slabs, ensuring they remain perfectly flat. Once dry, we bisque fire the clay to be used as a casting mold for the glass.

We cut and polish the glass to the appropriate size. Next, we use coloured glass powders and frits to accent the details in the textured clay mold. Once the colours have been applied, we carefully place the sheet glass overtop and place the casting mold into the kiln.

We kiln fire the glass to allow the frits and the sheet glass to fuse together. The colour is the glass itself, meaning you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firing, we anneal the glass. Because of this, we increase the strength and durability of the glass, so you know it will last for as long as you own the Mushroom Standup glass art.
