Guaranteed to share a smile, the Mistletoad Lantern is a quirky conversation starter. From his silly hat, to the sparkling smooches, you’ll be smiling through the season with this fun design.
Measuring approximately 6″ x 6″ by 11″ in height, this fused glass winter lantern is a perfect size to enjoy for indoor home decor. You can display the lantern on the mantle with a flickering LED candle. Dull in-laws? Turn the lantern to show the sensible cluster of mistletoe on the back of the lantern. The reserved size of this lantern means you can display the lantern easily on the floor as an accent piece, or as outdoor decor on the patio or step to welcome your winter guests.
How’s it made?
We create the Mistletoad Lantern using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish the sheet glass to size. Using glass powders, we create the toad design and mistletoe leaves. Pre-fired glass dots are added for mistletoe berries. See how we make the dots here! Once the design is arranged, we place the panels into the kiln and fire to allow the glass to fuse together.
We paint the kisses by hand, then add mica powder to the surface. This creates a sparkling smooch that will light up your guests and your room. We place the panels into the kiln, and fire to sinter the enamel into the surface of the glass. Because of this, you won’t ever have to worry about the details washing off or fading. Additionally, the colours are the glass itself, which won’t ever fade.
During the firing process, we anneal the glass to strengthen it for durability. Because of this, you can be sure to enjoy your lantern decor for many years to come.
