How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Frameless Sailing Away Window Panel using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish the clear glass to the appropriate size. Then, we prepare the casting mold using a spray to release the glass from the ceramic mold. Next, we place coloured glass frits onto the casting mold to accent the textured details. Carefully blending the colours to allow gradients, we ensure there are no reactions between the colours. Once the frits have been added, we place the clear glass overtop and place the casting mold into the kiln.

We kiln fire the glass to melt the frits and sheet glass together, while melting into the texture on the mold. The colour is the glass itself, you won’t ever have to worry about the colour fading or washing off. During the firings, the glass is annealed. Because of this, the strength and durability of the glass is increased, so you know it will last for as long as you own the artwork.
