How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Deck the Halls Bowl using multiple steps. First, we cut and fire the clear glass to the appropriate thickness. Then, we place the clear square atop the ceramic textured mold and load the glass into the kiln. We fire it first flat to melt the glass gently onto the textured crevices of the ceramic mold. Finally, once the glass cools, we slump the bowl into a ceramic mold at a low temperature to keep the surface texture, and it cools into the bowl shape. During each firing, the glass is annealed. Because of this, the strength and durability of the bowl are increased, so you know it will easily withstand daily use.
