Cranberry Ice Pendant

How it’s Made:

The Cranberry Ice Pendant is made using a series of steps. First, we place a layer of glass frits onto the kiln shelf. Using a sifter, we add cranberry coloured powdered glass directly onto the frits. We let the powder settle between the frits to create the design. We fire the glass to fully fuse the frits and powders to a smooth sheet of glass.

Once cooled, we cut the sheet into squares and shape the glass. The pieces are ground to a circle using a diamond grinder. Once the pieces are washed, we return the glass into the kiln. We fire the pendant using a low temperature to polish and round the edges.

During the firing, we anneal the glass. This relieves any internal stresses within the glass, giving it more strength and durability so you can enjoy your summer necklace for many years. The colour in this fused glass pendant is the glass itself, which means it will never fade or wash off. 

Once the pendant has cooled, we drill each pendant by hand to allow for a wire bail. Next, we tie a black satin weave rayon cord using a special sliding knot. This allows you to adjust the length of the necklace to your preferred length.
