Cranberry Ice Earrings

How it’s Made:

The Cranberry Ice Earrings are made using a series of steps. First, we place a layer of glass frits onto the kiln shelf. Using a sifter, we add cranberry coloured powdered glass directly onto the frits. We let the powder settle between the frits to create the design. We fire the glass to fully fuse the frits and powders to a smooth sheet of glass.

Once cooled, we cut the sheet into strips and return the glass into the kiln. We fire the earrings using a low temperature to gently round the edges.

During the firing, we anneal the glass. This relieves any internal stresses within the glass, giving it more strength and durability so you can enjoy your summer necklace for many years. The colour in these fused glass earrings is the glass itself, which means it will never fade or wash off. 

Once cooled, we drill each earring by hand using a diamond drill bit. Then, using a wire bail, we attach a surgical stainless steel ear wire. This hypoallergenic ear wire minimizes any reactions from metal allergies, giving you comfortable, all-day wear!

The colour in these fun summer earrings is the glass itself, therefore will never fade or wash off. You can enjoy the vibrant colours for as long as you own the jewelry.
