Details:

The Celtic Spiral Knot, Triskele, or Triskelion, believed to signify the three forces of nature: water, fire and earth. The single line is said to signify the oneness of the spirit, and the spirals represent growth. The gaps in the spirals symbolize the stages of life: life, death and rebirth. This Celtic knot is thought to mean eternal life and is believed to be one of the oldest Celtic designs.

Lightweight in design, this fused glass pendant is a joy to wear, at any length you choose. The colours in the Celtic Living Spiral Pendant are the glass itself. The design is screen printed using glass enamels, and kiln fired into the surface of the glass. Because the colour is the glass itself, you never have to worry about the colour fading or washing off.

How it’s made:

The Celtic Living Spiral Pendant is created using multiple steps. First, we create the two-part Celtic knot design and expose it onto a silk screen. Next, we cut two layers of sheet glass to the right size. We kiln-fire the blank pendants to ensure the two layers fully fuse together and the edges round.

Using two colours of glass enamels, we print the design onto the glass. Once the first layer of enamel is dried and inspected for quality, we print the second colour for the leaves, carefully aligning the design. Then, we return the pendant to the kiln at a low temperature to sinter the enamels into the surface of the pendant, making them permanent.

During the firing process, the fused glass pendant is annealed for durability. Because of this, the pendant is strong enough for daily wear.

We drill the Celtic Living Spiral Pendant to allow for the wire jewelry bail, and string the black satin weave rayon cording. We tie the cord using a double sliding knot, which allows the pendant length to be adjusted from approximately 25″ long, to as short as a choker style necklace.

Note: Image below shows how we line up the second colour of enamel on an acetate guide to ensure the design lines up to the first print.
