Measuring approximately 5×6″, this fused glass decor is a perfect size to bring a breath of colour to your space. Whether you add to your office, or brighten up your mantle, this piece of art is a warm addition to any space.

Display your touchable fused glass art in your choice of wooden block display or clear acrylic easel. Either of these display options allow light to travel through the glass, for a sparkling and glowing display!

How’s It Made?

Handcrafted from art glass, we create the Cardinal Standup using multiple steps. First, we cut and polish the glass to the appropriate size. Then we cut and shape the cardinal from red sheet glass, grinding to shape and washing clean. Adding the right colours to suggest the inviting branches of a cedar or evergreen, we arrange glass frits around the bird. Last, we add a tiny black eye for this regal bird. Finally, the design is carefully placed into the kiln to fuse the design elements together.

When the glass has cooled, we add enamel by hand for the black mask and feather details. Then, we return the glass to the kiln for a low-temperature firing to sinter the enamels into the surface of the glass, making them permanent. This means the enamels can never wash off, and the colour will never fade as it is the glass itself.

During the firing, the glass is annealed. Because of this, the strength and durability of the glass is increased, so you know it will last for as long as you own the glass art.
